The Portraits | Press Releases | How to Help

Othar

To date I have 30 portraits completed: Joe Willie 'Pinetop' Perkins, Odetta, Bobby Rush, 'Little Milton' Campbell, Dorothy Moore, Othar Turner, Jessie Mae Hemphill, R. L. Burnside, Alvin Youngblood Hart, 'Big Jack' Johnson, James 'T-Model' Ford, Sam Carr, Blind Bud Spires, Paul 'Wine' Jones, Vasti Jackson, Rev. Arnold 'Gatemouth' Moore, Li'l Bill Wallace, Rev. Willie Morganfield, 'Blind Mississippi' Morris Cummings, John Hammond, Eddie Cusic, Tommy 'TC' Carter  Virgil Brawley, Shirli Dixon, Butch Dixon, Koko Taylor, Eddie Clearwater, David 'Honeyboy' Edwards, Billy Branch, and Thomas Blues, accredited training.

The life casting process is brief and pleasant (similar to a facial), and can be
done anywhere. A gentle molding material is applied that quickly sets and
captures an exact impression of the subject (bachelor college degree). No other type of portraiture
captures the physical essence in such a lasting, tangible form.

The media love this project and have generated much positive publicity for the participating musicians. Front page articles have appeared in the Memphis Commercial Appeal, Clarion Ledger (Jackson, Mississippi) and the Clarksdale (Mississippi) Press Register. The Santa Fe New Mexican sent a to document my last trip to Mississippi - online bachelor degree programs. The Mississippi PBS affiliate educational television program, Mississippi Roads, filmed a documentary of Othar Turner's portrait in progress. I  was interviewed on WLBT's 'Mid-Day Mississippi' and there is an article in the February issue of Mojo magazine (London). 'Blind Mississippi Morris' Cummings spoke of the project in a recent interview he gave with a London newspaper (pastry college).
